Prosthetic lenses

Technological research has taken giant leaps by offering sometimes unexpected innovations. Contact Color Srl, a company specializing in the manufacture of devices and products for the contact lens sector has further refined its production of coloured lenses.

Contact lenses for cosmetic-prosthetic use are resolutive remedies in cases of partial / extended leukoma, traumatic lesions, total / partial aniridia, coloboma, nystagmus, amblyopia, albinism and strabismus (in the latter case with staining of the scleral area). In the aforementioned cases, very compact cancelling lenses are used as a partial barrier (transparent pupil), or total (diplopia) against light emissions. The colour tone and the trabecular pattern of the irises are copied from close-up photos of the healthy eye of the patients for whom the lenses are destined or with other coloured media (sample irises).

These days the restoring of appearance and/or original function to a person suffering from a particular condition (even trauma-induced) is a solid achievable fact.

Extended leukoma caused by trauma

Extended trauma-induced leukoma in the right eye with highly vascularised cornea.

Correction was carried out using “cosmetic” hydrophilic L.A.C. (Polymacon) hand painted to give a total diameter of 15 mm. with a black pupil.

Coloboma with serious convergent strabismus

Coloboma with very marked convergent strabismus (right eye) in a very young subject.

The morpho-aesthetic correction was carried out with “cosmetic” hydrophilic L.A.C. (Polymacon) hand-painted with iris decentralization and balance split at 2 hours.

Total lens diameter: 17 mm.

Extensive post-traumatic leukoma

Extensive post-traumatic leukoma in the right eye.

The morpho-aesthetic correction was performed with "cosmetic" hydrophilic L.A.C. (Polymacon), hand-painted with very dense coloration for a total block of light radiation.

Congenital bilateral aniridia

Congenital bilateral aniridia in a baby of a few months.

Morpho-functional correction was performed with "cosmetic" hydrophilic L.A.C. (Polymacon) hand painted for a total diameter of 12.5 mm and transparent pupil.

The colour of the irises (dense) was decided by the parents of the child.

Congenital partial aniridia

Partial aniridia in an adult

Morphologic correction was performed with "cosmetic" hydrophilic L.A.C. (Polymacon) for a total diameter of 15 mm, a dioptric power of -2.00d and a pupillary diameter of 4.5 mm.

(The arithmetic average between the values of the pupillary diameters in the mydriasis and in the myosis of the healthy contralateral).
